The synthetic Kevlar fibre (registered trademark of „DuPont“) is a Para Aramide. This fibre isn`t inflammable, resists enormous heat and is extremely firm. Kevlar is processed for example in Nomex fabrics to increase the firmness or it is used on cut protection (e. g. chain saw protection clothes, gloves). This fibre is five times stronger than steel.
The synthetic Kermel fibre is a Polyamide-Imide of the metaaramide family. It is not inflammable, colored by spinning nozzles, it has very good mechanical characteristics and is resistant against high temperatures. This fibre is processed to the various Kermel fabrics.
Use of carbon and steel fabric to prevent the static charge. They are characterised by extremely high breaking strength and electrical conductivity.
Flame-retardant cotton. Cotton is a natural fibre which gets its flame-retardance by a special equipment.
Name for Polyamide 6.6. A synthetic fibre with extremely high breaking strength and scrubbing firmness.
Viscose is a cellulose fibre which can be chemically handled to increase its non-flammability.

PVC coated knit fabrics
|PVC coated knit fabrics is a favourable material which is waterproof (100%) but it has no breathing properties (e.g. item no. 44-100 PVC-high-visibility-jacket)|
PU coated woven fabric
|PU coated woven fabric, hard-wearing, but not exactely 100% waterproof (e.g. item no. 47-210 PU-high-visibility-jacket)|
|Strech PU (= Polyurethane). Advancement of PU coated woven fabric. Very soft material nevertheless hard-wearing, waterproof (100%), light breathing properties (e.g. item no. 45-310 Techmaflex-high-visibility-jacket)|
|3-layer laminate manufactured by the company "Novotex-Isomat". Waterproof (100%), windproof and good breathing properties. Very good wearing comfort (e.g. item no. 43-210 Airtex-high-visibility-jacket).|
|3-layer laminate made of the company „Sympatex“. Waterproof (100%), windproof and good breathing properties. Very good wearing comfort (e.g. Sympatex-high-visibility-jacket).|
|Blended fabric: 50% polyamide (nylon) / 50% cotton. Because of a special weaving process one can find the share of cotton on the inner side of the fabric. Polyamide is outside the fabric. This leads to a very good breaking strength of the clothing, which is also very resistant ageinst dirt and pleasant to the skin (e.g. item no. 49-130 chain saw protection bib trousers).|
Are used to make the clothes waterproof, windproof and breathe-actively. Membranes are also available in a non-inflammable quality for fire brigades for example.
|Sympatex||Membrane based on PVC manufactured by the company "Sympatex"|
|Airtex||Membrane based on PU manufactured by the company "Novotex-Isomat"|
|Gore-Tex||Membrane based on PTFE manufactured by the company "Gore-Tex"|
- HuPF = production and test description of an universal fire protection clothing
It´s the german standard (requirements clearly uprated than in EN 469 postulated) for fire brigade protection clothes which is divided as follows:
Part 1 = fire brigade coats
Part 2 = fire brigade trousers and bib trousers
Part 3 = fire brigade jackets
Part 4 = fire brigade over trousers type A and B
Type A = 3-layer trousers (for complete protection a HuPF part 2 trousers has to be worn in addition)
Type B = 4-layer trousers (without any other trousers)
(Please do not hesiatate to require more informations)
EN 469 = european standard / protection clothing for fire brigades
EN 531 = european standard / protection clothing for heat exposed workers
DIN EN 13911 = protection clothing for fire brigades – demands and methods of testing for fire brigade bala clavas
EN 471 = european standard / high visibility clothes
EN 471 distinguishes between 3 classes for high visibility clothes in which minimum surfaces of visible background and reflective material are defined.
Class 3: clothes with the highest visibility e.g. jackets, coats, two-piece suits (for example vest+trousers or bib trousers, jacket+trousers or bib trousers)
Class 2: clothes with middle visibility e.g. vests, bib trousers
Class 1: clothes with lowest visibility e.g. trousers, shorts
EN 343 = european standard / bad weather protection clothing = european standard / cold protection clothes
EN 381 = european standard / protection clothes for the users of chain saws
Furthermore this standard is divided into three classes:
class 1 = protection up to 20 metres per second chain saw speed
class 2 = protection up to 24 metres per second chain saw speed
class 3 = protection up to 28 metres per second chain saw speed
KWF performance standard (FPA accepted)
clothes which were tested detailed by KWF get the approval „KWF performance standard“. They correspond to all demands of technique. Economic efficiency and all standards of safety, ergonomics and environmental compatibility belong to those demands.
The tests comprise technical measurements, practical operations in the forest and surveys. The board of examiners decides to give the certificate „FPA accepted“ if the result is positive. If required they decide about necessary improvements.
The new approval „KWF performance standard“ replaces the common „FPA sign“ which was trademark of its sector for over 50 years. The new approval is identical with the content but it shows the responsible testing position because of the „KWF“ logo.
